It’s an understatement thinking Doyle’s Cable-Less tecnology is excellent only in the racing scene. Actually, Cable-less can be installed on every types of sailing yachth, especially if yuo’re looking for easier, faster and above all ligher sails.
We talked to Malcolm and Joan Dickson, owners of ‘Sarau’ a 55ft cruising yacht to hear what they had to say about their Cable-less Code Zero.
Although conditions were not ideal for our fully fitted out cruising yacht the cable-less code zero provided good performance in under 10 knots with the wind forward of the beam.
Practicality is the best characterist of cable-less. When it is closed is easy to flake into its bag while we lower it on the deck. In light winds it furls up well. the breeze is up around 15 knots it is much more to achieve a good furl as the foot furls leaving the top section unfurled unless we ease the mainsail and run away so the code zero is blanketed completely.
However, we usually furl and stow the sail at around 10 knots as this is the upper limit for it with the wind forward of the beam. If the breeze is aft of the beam we normally change to our larger gennaker.
Definitely we chosen to run with Doyle Sails and we have done the right thing. We are very happy with this decision and thank Doyle team for the quality and attention to details of all 3 sails. We also think to come back to Doyle Sail again next time.
