As 2015 comes to an end we have the chance to reflect on a year of successes for our customers and the team here at Doyle Sails. It’s been a busy twelve months with a record 70,000sqm of Stratis sail membranes being laid at the loft and our team has worked incredibly hard to design and build market leading sails throughout the year. The Stratis plotters have travelled over 4,000km this year laying more than 40,000km of fibre – that’s about the same length as the Equator! Our sailmaking division has also been well supported by our other specialist departments – rigging, covers and upholstery.
The R&D team continues to drive sail technology, ensuring that all our customers benefit from the advances in sail design, and Stratis Sail Art, one of our new products for 2015, has been incredibly well received by the sailing fraternity. Stratis ICE also continues to go from strength to strength, with Red Dragon now carrying the biggest ICE sails built to date.
More and more boats are choosing Doyle Stratis and we have supplied sails to a hugely diverse range of yachts this year, from cruising yachts to classics to Maxis and superyachts. Boats featuring new sails have included the TP52 Fox, Hugo Boss, Beau Geste, YD37 Anarchy, Mari Cha III, Little Nico and Rainbow II to name just a few. A project to remember was building the sails for the biggest sailing yacht in the world.
It’s also been an impressive year on the race circuit for Doyle powered yachts with an impressive number of wins across all the classes. Wins have included Menace winning the MC38 Australian Champs, Rio 100 taking home the Barn Door trophy and winning the SoCal 300, Bella Mente winning the Rolex 72 World Maxi Champs, Leopard 3 winning fastest monohull in the Round the Island Race, Rosehearty winning the Perini Cup, Elfje the joint win in class at the St Barths Bucket and Beau Geste’s win in the Coastal Classic monohull division. Congratulations to all our racing customers.
The Doyle team is pleased to have served many new customers this year and we’re equally proud to be working with so many long-term clients too. Thank you all for your support.
All that remains is to wish you a happy and healthy new year and here’s to a prosperous 2016 for us all.
